IndeHero

What is IndeHero?

In the Indego system, there are stations that need bikes and there are docks that yearn to be free. IndeHero turns using bike share into a fun, competitive game, where participants can earn points for every ride and additional points when they release or return Indego bikes to designated stations, which can be used to redeem rewards. How can I become an IndeHero?

IndeHero is already enabled for all active monthly and annual Indego Passholders. You can see your IndeHero point activity right under your Indego pass information.

Participants earn 'Pedal Points' whenever they take a ride. Designated stations with IndeHero markers award 'Hero Points' whenever you check out a bike or dock at these marked stations.

IndeHero Point System

Pedal Points: Pedal points are earned for simply taking an Indego trip! One trip = 5 points.

Hero Points: Hero points can be earned for releasing or returning Indego bikes to designated stations. Be sure to toggle the "Show IndeHero points on the map" option in your account so that you can see which designated stations will earn you Hero Points for returning or checking out a bike.

  • Return reward: 25 Hero Points are earned by bringing a bike to empty stations with a purple down arrow.
  • Checkout reward: 25 Hero Points are earned by taking a bike from full stations with a pink up arrow.

You can also track and manage your points in your Indego account. Once you’ve accrued enough points, you get to choose when you want to use them to redeem free days on your pass!

Compete on the leaderboard for prizes

Frequently Asked Questions

Why didn’t I get Hero Points for a ride at a station that had available points?

If you think you should have been awarded Hero Points but were not, a few factors may be at play:

  • Recently accrued points may take 24-48 hours to reflect on your account.
  • The app may need to be refreshed by closing and reopening to reflect pending account updates.
  • The bike used for that ride may not have been docked properly.
  • The return station may have been down due to service interruption or outage.
  • The station’s Hero Point availability, point values, and requirements may have been updated before you arrived at the station.
  • The ride did not meet the station requirements for those available Hero Points:
    • Mistakenly returning a bike at a station when there was a checkout requirement.
    • Mistakenly checking out a bike at a station when there was a return requirement.

Hero Points are not awarded for the following counter actions:

    • The departure and arrival stations for that ride both required returning a bike to earn points.
    • The departure and arrival stations for that ride both required checking out a bike to earn points.
    • Taking a roundtrip ride that started and ended at the same station, which required a bike to be either returned or checked out to earn points.
    • A subsequent ride was taken 15 minutes thereafter the ride in question negated your previous heroic action. For example:
      • Returned a bike to an empty station but then shortly after checked out the last available bike from a station.
      • Released a bike from a full station but shortly after returned a bike to a station with only one available dock.

Contact customer support via text or call 844-446-3346 or at support@rideindego.com if you think there is an inaccuracy with your points. Please note, Pedal Points cannot be awarded retroactively.

Can you earn Hero Points at eligible departure and arrival stations?

Yes! In addition to receiving 5 Pedal Points for that ride, if the station you start at has Hero Points available for undocking a bike and the station you end at has Hero Points available for returning a bike, you will receive both points for meeting each station requirements.

I have more points than I am able to redeem, what do I do?

When your “Indehero available points” total does not mirror the points, you are able to redeem within the rewards store, you may need to clear the cache on your iOS or Android phone, and close and refresh the Indego Bike Share App.

How long does it take for IndeHero rewards to be applied to my Indego pass?

Active monthly and annual passholder who redeem their Pedal Points in the rewards store will see their pass extensions applied 24-48 hours after requesting to redeem a rewards store item. An automated confirmation email of rewards applied will be sent to you. Additionally, users who have opted into IndeHero app alerts in their mobile app notification settings will receive a push notification once rewards have been applied.

Will I lose my points if I cancel or change my pass?

No, any unused Pedal Points will be saved and associated with that specific account. However, to redeem your points you must have an active monthly or annual pass associated with that account.

Which Indego pass types can earn Pedal Points or redeem rewards?

Pedal and Hero Points can be accrued on any active Indego pass. However, points can only be redeemed with an active standard or reduced fare, monthly or annual pass. Currently, IndeHero points can be accrued but cannot be redeemed on an Indego365 Plus or Indego365 Plus Access pass. Please note, that Pedal Points and rewards are not transferable between accounts.

Can my rewards be applied to an expired Indego account?

IndeHero rewards can only be applied to active monthly or annual passes. IndeHero pass extension cannot be used towards an expired pass renewal. It’s best practice to redeem IndeHero rewards 24-48 hours before an active monthly or annual pass expires.

Do rides taken on a Single Ride Pass or Guest Pass accrue Pedal or Hero Points?

Yes, Pedal and Hero Points can be earned on any active Indego pass. However, points can only be redeemed with an active monthly or annual pass.

    What is IndeHero?

IndeHero is an in-app rewards program that allows active Indego pass holders to earn “Pedal Points” for every Indego ride taken and additional “Hero Points” by checking out or in bikes from designated stations. Active monthly and annual pass holders can redeem their accrued points in the rewards store to claim free additional days added to their pass. Additionally, eligible pass holders who optin can compete each month on the leaderboard for cash prizes awarded to the top 3 leaderboard participants. IndeHero account features are accessible via the Indego mobile app available on iOS and Android. Passholders must be logged into the Indego mobile app to participate, compete on the leaderboard and redeem rewards.

When will my redeemed rewards be added to my Indego pass?

Users must redeem at the IndeHero Rewards Store; rewards are applied 24-48 hours after redemption. Best practice is to redeem your rewards 24-48-hours before you pass expires.

Why do some stations have Hero Points available while others don’t?

Hero Points are based on a dynamic set of real-time station rules and requirements that take into consideration a range of variables including but not limited to:

    • Real-time station bike and dock availability
    • Historic rider trends and workforce commuting patterns

If a station does not have Hero Points available, you will still earn the standard number of Pedal Points for that ride.

I thought I won points, why don’t I see them?

Pedal Points are based on a dynamic set of live rules that update and refresh in real time. If you think you should have been awarded points but were not, a few factors could be in play: points take a few hours to register on your scoreboard, the map may have updated before you checked out or returned a bike, you might have committed a counteraction, or might not have docked your bike properly. Points will not be awarded retroactively.

Please contact customer support at support@rideindego.com or call/text us at 844-446-3346 if you think there is an inaccuracy with your points.

Is there a maximum number of points I can earn?

No, this isn’t a maximum number of available points you can earn and accumulate. The more points you collect, the better the rewards you are eligible to redeem are!

Can I cash in my points for money, or other prizes?

Pedal Points are only eligible for use in the Indego Reward Store by active monthly and annual pass holders. However, active monthly and annual users who opt into the leaderboard can compete for monthly gift cards and other prizes.

How can I share my suggestions, comments, or questions about IndeHero?

Can I be a repeat winner on the IndeHero leaderboard?

There is no limit on the number of times you can top the leaderboard and/or win monthly prizes.

If I have an annual pass can I still use IndeHero?

If you have an Indego365 or Indego365 Access pass, yes, you can accrue and redeem IndeHero points. If you have an Indego365 Plus or Indego365 Plus Access pass, you can accrue points, but currently, cannot redeem your points towards free days on your pass.

    Do IndeHero’s get a cape?

No, you get points and free time added to your Indego pass.

Do IndeHero’s get special powers? If so, do we need to use them responsibly like Spiderman or can we be more like Venom?
