The Better Bike Share Partnership (BBSP) is an effort led by the City of Philadelphia that works to ensure that Indego is accessible to all Philadelphians. The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia is a non-profit advocacy and education organization working as part of the Better Bike Share Partnership to support bike share and biking education. Better Bike Share Partnership is funded by the JPB Foundation.
Spring in Philly means it’s time to ride bikes! This Spring is a particularly exciting time to be on two wheels, since Indego recently celebrated its 1st birthday and has been expanding with new stations, a new Access program, and more! Bicycle Coalition staff helped lead a training ride for new Indego Street Team members.
The first monthly Indego Street Skills class was held at the Central Branch of the Free Library and the first monthly Indego Adult Learn to Ride class was held at Thomas Paine Plaza – click here for info on future classes.
Leaders of Recreation Centers around the City went on an Indego bike ride as part of a staff development training.
Indego took part in several events as part of the Mantua Greenway Design Month, including Mantua Community Build Day! Community members painted crosswalk murals, decorated fences, and test-rode bikes.
After sharing in the excitement of Indego’s 1st Birthday Party, Indego Community Ambassadors convened for their first Indego Ambassador Meetup at the 23rd and South station to connect and brainstorm programming for the season.
Representative Vanessa Lowery Brown of the 190th District was one of over twenty adults testing out an Indego bike at her Spring Fling event at Smith Playground.
Participants in the Digital Skills and Bicycle Thrills class, held in partnership with the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy, participated in several group rides around West Philadelphia as part of their class.
Town Watch Integrated Services, in partnership with the police districts in South Philadelphia, organized a community bike ride and Indego was happy to be able to take part in it.
