Summer is in full swing and we have an awesome lineup of featured group rides in August that are completely free and open to the public. Keep reading to learn more about our three upcoming group rides, how to register, and how you can take home some awesome Indego swag!
Each season from April to October, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and Indego host group rides in different locations throughout the city with the goal of helping riders make connections with other cyclists. We also partner with different community organizations on these rides so that you can learn more about their work and how to get involved. Below is a breakdown of each group ride happening in August.
August Featured Rides
Gardens and Green Spaces Tour
On Thursday, August 18th from 10:00am to 1:00pm we will be hosting our Gardens and Green Spaces ride which was previously canceled due to high temperatures. This ride will highlight North Philadelphia’s Gardens such as Brewerytown Garden, Strawberry Mansion Green Resource Center, and other local green spaces. Participants will explore these spaces, how to get there via bike, who maintains them, and more.
Community Art Ride
On Saturday, August 20th from 12:00pm to 1:30pm, join Walls For Justice on a Community Art Ride starting at Race Street Pier and continuing along the Delaware River Trail. Along the way, we will highlight murals and discuss their meaning. After the ride, you’ll have the opportunity to paint your helmet, thinking about what kind of message you want to spread.
Trash 2 Treasure Group Ride
On Sunday, August 21st from 10:00am – 1:00pm join us on a guided “Trash” Ride with one of Philadelphia’s most influential community advocates, Terrill Haigler AKA Ya Fav Trash Man. You’ll hear from Terrill about the importance of keeping our parks, green spaces, and communities clean and will aid in a community cleanup in local North Philadelphia communities.
Please note, that these are slower-paced rides intended for cyclists of all skill levels, and we will be making frequent stops to rest and rehydrate.
Take home some Indego swag at the next group ride! Bring a guest to one of our group rides and you plus your guest will each receive a free Indego fanny pack, sunglasses, and key chain! Let our staff know before or after the ride to claim your swag.
